The Library is now accessible thanks to the funding from Rastrick Big Local. We are now focussing our attention on the Library garden. Our longer term plans for the garden are:
We continue to work with Calderdale Council to seek funding for the remaining landscaping work.
In the shorter term, we want to get the garden back to looking its best.
We have an agreement with Calderdale Council that volunteers from the Friends can do some basic tidying up, planting and maintenance of the garden.
If you are interested in volunteering, please get in touch with us via email, Facebook or the Library. We don't have regular sessions as such, but if you want to pop up at times to suit you to do a little weeding, for example, we'll not turn down the help; just speak to us so we can share the plan and vision and make sure we don't dig over each other's work.
Please don't go to the Library and just start planting or digging stuff up as there are restrictions with what we are allowed to do due to the listed status of the garden and we need to make sure all effort is coordinated.

A little extra bonus are some bird houses and bug hotels donated by one of our volunteers, Chris.
The Council have removed a tree that had been causing problems for our neighbours, pruned some of the trees, cleaned the paths, and cleared some of the more pesky brambles. They have also fitted a water butt for us, so we don't keep having to go inside when we need to fill our watering cans.
